The Twelve Scrolls Of Hantei

Book 1 Chapter 8
The Battle Of Iron Gate Vally

The goblins march and the city farther north than they have ever been seen before and no one knows who leads then or why they come. Are they marshaled by the Cursed Matsu who it appears is also after the scrolls? Are the Kolot real? Who else seeks out the words of the Kami and for what end? Much is still hidden from my sight. I prepare as best as I know how for the coming, talking with the Governor and getting the lay of the land. I am told that the Dragon send Ashigaru to provide for the city’s defense and can send nothing else while Hitomi sends her army out to quell disquieted Togoshi to the north. As I study and contemplate strategy The Hare and Unicorn are no where to be found. I’m I to lead the peasants to war?

Our reinforcements have arrived. 900 Ashigaru brought by Kitsuki Yumi and her niece Ryosaki who it seems is the Hare’s betrothed. She acted greatly displeased to see him. The magistrate and I exchange pleasantry’s briefly before getting to the matter at hand. She confirms the rumor of Hitomi sending troops north to ensure that the Togoshi change there proud name to hers. I suggest that the Lion General may lead the goblins but his name is unknown to her but brings up a name from the Lions Clans past. I must talk further with Kitsuki Yumi about the darker matters in the Lions past. Afterwards the Unicorn and I move the troops into the valley to rest and wait. The next morning my scouts return with word. 1000 goblins and ogers arrive within hours.

Our lines clash at the guidance of the our Battle Maiden and the Lion General is no where to be seen. They mingle and merge, crashing like thunder, advancing and retreating like the seas tide and I am revealed that I am in the line and not leading. Each man fights his hardest. Now that survival is at stake it no longer matters that they fight under orders for a city and cause that is not even there own. My fellow wards and I fight because we can not turn a blind eye and watch the city be razed and its peasants slaughtered as meat. The battle rages all day and into the night before the enemy lines brake and the goblin horde begins to flee. Many have done brave deeds this day and many more have died but the day has been won and Tetsu Kama Mura will live on. After we heal from out wounds Kitsuki Yumi is under orders to bring us to Hitomi at the Furthest Fortress.

Every second of the night they give another lie

When the demon wakes

I dreamed of her again last night. But this was . . . Different. Strange. I felt . . . Pulled. And the idea of turning over a scroll kept coming up. It is almost as if something was trying to tempt me with her to do something vile.

Goblins are on the march! How would cousin Rin-sama-ko handle this? First, she would ensure she had her crown with the floppy ears, and would growl some, aaand then? She would come up with a brilliant, simple, and direct solution that should have been obvious and the first thing everyone tried.

I did finally get to use that technique Usagi San demonstrated. Took some practice, but I got the timing of the leap down. Even got to use it against a Stone Naga!

There was this nifty underground tomb, some crummy riddles, (Even the unicorn got one right, and she is about as inspired as a riceballs on Tuesday.) and I ran into a member of the Woodmoth Society. She was such a nice lady, it was a shame that someone poisoned her.

Book 1 Chapter 4

It was an odd yet humbling experience being reminded of the duties of hospitality in a strange land, I was hosted in the court of, well of all things, a Goblin. He seemed more bored of us than any thing else, and directed us into a cavern, a (what did that Phoenix call it? Ah, scriptorium? no that not quite it…) Well it was something akin to a vault where in there were stored a scrolls up on decorative stands, but only one remained, and we supposed it would be best it we secured it for the Togashi. To this end our shugenja retrieved it aaaaand well something happened but I am not sure what, and he as been reluctant to talk about it.
On the way out of his castle we were told that there was a old Hag that might be able to tell us something about the scroll..
We procured passage upon a boat to her dwelling place, a remote shack upon that bizarre river underneath the sky of glowing vegetation, I tell you this world the goblins live in, it is a strange place. Every goblin we asked told us that they migrated here shortly after the fall of the Kami, and that they have been here longer than Mankind has existed. Upon arrival there she told us a tale of how she was bound by a Man-Kami to tell us his story, and that upon telling us that tale she was to be unbound. And she was, and she attempted to eat us, and was roasted where she stood by the mighty powers of our Shujenga.

Serve our masters save our friends.

The group while on route to Morning Frost Castle was given a message by Miromoto Hitome morning of 12 Dragon to meet with a guide in Kyuden Tonbo then to travel to the House of Eight Leaves in Pale Oak Castle. To be escorts for Miya Gokinju a Imperial Cartographer in his travels to make maps for the empire.

Along the way Ujina Kenji illness that he has suffered for the past three days finally pushed him over the edge, and he collapsed in a medium size village just outside Kyuden Tonbo. The towns healer says that he has been poisoned by a flower that he has been carrying around and the antidote comes from a shrub, with green leaves, red berries, and purple flowers, located in the Mountains of Regret

The group has left Ujina Kenji in the care of the town healer and headed out. Traveling day and night for 5 days, only resting to sleep in turns on the back of Utaku Maes’ horse Maximus

After arriving they left Maximus with Tonbo Rekai at the base of the mountain. Halfway up the mountain the crane and Utaku Mae started to have trouble with the steep climb and stayed behind while The phoenix and the crab traveled on, another 9 hours, to find the bush with the help of a earth kami to show them a easier path to go and were a shrub might be.

Toward nightfall of 17 Dragon the crane started to hear rounds coming from around the next ridge. After a short wile and a attempt to bribe the creatures, Utaku Mae and the crane were attacked by a group of three goblins.

The Tale of the Hare
Or a close Shave.

Book 1 Chapter 1

Sensei told me this would be an interesting opportunity. And those are two words I have long dreaded coming from Sensei Usagi, worse when used together. One could read that statement as having said, “Son, its time for you find out how lucky you really are.” Thus was I sent to the center of the empire. Again, hopefully with better results than last time.

It was a pleasant journey to the sea down the river we call White Gold. We hare are not Rokugan’s greatest sailors, to be sure, but this hare held it all together.

<first>
I really regret not getting to see Aoi and the rest of the girls dance the Dance of the Hare at the harvest festival.
The City is AMAZING and it REEEEEKS! shit sitters, eeeeew!!
Food, Mercantile, and People of EVERY description. And the Music! Songs from all the Realm find their way here. I meet the most interesting people in the tea houses here. No theatre is ok I guess, but I would still rather watch Aoi dance any night. Thought! While I am here I might get to see Sakura again, she is so pretty.I doubt that she will remember me, even if she does she can’t be looking exactly tripping over herself to hear from me, with what happened with her sister and all that.
